[FFOS] Any plans for a new Firefox OS phone?
« on: November 23, 2014, 11:30:41 PM »
Good morning everybody  :)

I'd like to know if there are any plans for further Firefox OS phones or does Geeksphone more concentrate on the Android market?

What I really miss is a powerful phone but with a smaller screen (4 inches for example). That saves battery power and is, in my opinion, more handy. The Revolution's 4.7" screen is a way to large for the 2000 mAh akku if you want to have a phone that lasts 24h with "normal usage".

Greetings,

I think the Screen is not to Blame on this, but rather some applications. Without connecta2 my Revolution runs for 5 days. With that app it's not even a whole day before it blacks out.

WHAT, Are you joking?  :o :o :o

Do you turn off your phone after using?  :D Otherwise I can not explain to myself why it lasts that long  ;)
Are you using FFOS or Android?

I'm using FFOS1.3 (desperatly waiting for 2.x). The phone is never turned of. However I'm not using it extensively. Currently it's useless for what I had in mind with it originally (developing JS/Canvas-based mobile games). Today I just have it around, so others can phone me and I can send a few SMS.

Deleting Conecta2 (As far as I can see, you can't simply turn the App off), greatly increased the online-time of the Revolution. Turning of WLAN (just using 3G) also helped.

Oh I also would be very glad if there's new 4-inch FxOS phone around... and with FxOS 2.x.
Actually, ZTE Open C is just that, but it runs with 1.3 and one you get used to 2.x features, you'll never want to look back :)

As there was no official anwer from GP, I really think that they are not interested in Firefox OS anymore  :(

Today I also read that the developer devices Keon & Peak don't get daily builds anymore, because support for them came to an end.

We'll see, what comes next ::)

Perhaps you can find your phone with 4G (LTE) here.
