Hello everybody  :)

I also posted the following in a different thread. I just want to let you know, that I am not interested in going on Firefox OS port on Geeksphone Revolution. In my opinion Sailfish OS is the best choice for that hardware and it is actively developed by a good community and a good company.

I want to let you know, that I have found a forum on the internet, where somebody was able to port Sailfish OS 2.0.0.10 to ZTE Open C  8)

http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375953-devrom231-sailfish-os-for-zte-open-c-kis-3/

At the moment I'm trying to do it this by myself (on my ZTE Open C), but I'm facing some problems during the flash process. The problem is the internal space is not enough for that Sailfish OS port, so I have to find another way... But that's offtopic  :D

Before I'm starting on the Sailfish OS port for Geeksphone Revolution, I want to see how the system works. In fact, I never had a jolla phone in my hands and I want to check out the system before I start something new.

To those that are still interested in going on, let me know. If we ever will have a running port of Sailfish OS on Geeksphone Revolution, we will need a lot of helping hands.

Of course, I also will contact all the users from the last IRC meeting, if I have some further news and something to show you  :)

By the way, is there a way to get a new battery for our Revolution? Are the Blackphone 1 batteries compatible? The phone looks the same as the Geeksphone Revolution

Greetings,

Hello together  :)

I'm also interested in Sailfish OS. This topic is old, we already had this topic here:

http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=5949.0

I also created a "request" in together.jolla.com in 2015:

https://together.jolla.com/question/86941/porting-sailfish-os-to-geeksphone-revolution-with-intel-atom-cpu/

As Firefox OS 2.5 is also a nice OS, I first thought about porting that to GP Revolution. There is also a link to a manual in this forum. But as Mozilla declared Firefox OS for smartphones as a dead project, it makes no sense to stick to Firefox OS   :(

If I can help you, I'll try to get some time  :)

Greetings

an help for you...i hope ::)

Hi jambolo :)

THIS IS GREAT :-) I'd like to try it by myself. I hope I find some time in the future for that. Do you think that this makes it possible to port Firefox OS 2.5 to GP's Revolution? :-)

That would be great!!!

Hi everybody,

I just want to know, if there is anybody working on anything at the moment?

It looks for me that (again) the forum is dead  :(

I'm afraid that we are drifting away from building a new version of Firefox OS and that we are fighting a loosing battle :-\

Please let me know who is still actively working on this project.

Hi Benny,

great work, you're doing a good job really  :)

Do you know if the Push-Service (for mails, connecta2, Jongla, Line etc.) works properly?

I have a ZTE Open C with Firefox OS 2.2 - it runs very smooth, but the push service got lost and other small bugs appeared (time does not change in some apps...).

I also have a question about your WLAN settings: When Jesus and I planned the first productive release of Firefox OS 2.0 for the Geeksphone Revolution, I reported him that the WLAN connection disconnects after 15 (?) minutes if the mobile is in standby mode. This is a crap if you use instant messengers and for that reason he deactivated the WLAN disconnects.
WLAN and messengers worked fine over the day in standby mode and woke up the mobile when a message appeared, but battery drain was really high  :(

Did you edit those settings also? You can simply check if the WLAN disconnects are active: You look for a youtube video for example which lasts about 30 minutes. Then you start the video and turn off the screen. You won't see a video, but you only will hear the sound. If the sound stops after (I think) 15 minutes and you reactivate the mobile then the video should have an error symbol which says something like: "video aborted due to network connection loss". This is the evidence, that Firefox OS deactivates WLAN after a period of time when the screen is turned off.

I'm just interested in this feature  :)

P.S.: For those of you who really want their phone to turn off the WLAN after a period of time, there will be a specific feature in Firefox OS 2.2 called "WLAN Sleep Mode"  :)

Probably we'll need to build a new boot.img and sign it if we want to boot the phone into v2.2.

And how shall we do this? I think nobody has enough knowledge for this and we can't compare to the actual one as it is encrypted and signed  :(
I really have no idea about that, so is there a "dummy-boot.img" which can be customized to a specific phone?

Did anyone of the CM testers flash it yet?

Unfortunately I have no free time at the moment  :'(

Hi Benny!

Great news that you publish here  :) Unfortunately I have no free time this week to check your improved browser  :(

But I will check in the future. If it is nice, I really will work on FIREFOXER 2.0 where I'll implement it  :)

Greetings

P.S. Thank you for your great engagement here. We really need people like you  8)

@ agentsteel, Super@tmel: Nice work guys  :)

I've called up all the interested users to flash your build and to report bugs  8)

As Benny said, we search for dedicated developers for the community project. Are you two interested in being the "responsibles" / the contact persons for the CM-chapter?  :)

If you need any help, just let us know in the "main thread":
http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=6520.msg66822#msg66822

EDIT: I asked Rodrigo to pin this thread to the others on top of the page, so it will be easier to find your build  ;)

Great news for those who are interested in Cyanogenmod!  :o

User "agentsteel" and user "Super@tmel" are working on a new version of CM11!  :)

I recommend, that all the interested testers support their work by flashing the version and reporting bugs, if necessary.

If the version runs (nearlly) bug-free, we maybe can use it for the Firefox OS 2.2 development  8)

More information here:

I'm proud to see, that things keep going - thanks to the community  :)

Hello everybody  :)

I've sent the log files of our first IRC meeting yesterday to all the users  :)

One point during the meeting was that the boot.img is locked and that we haven't heard much from user coldnew in the last days (unfortunately he didn't took part in the meeting  :-\ )

Now I have searched the web for more information about that topic and found an old article from coldnew.

For those that interested what exactly blocks the community's development work, this article explains it very well:

http://coldnew.github.io/blog/2015/06/10_gp_revolution3_en.html

Let's hope that one day we will have a open "boot.img"   :)
