SD card not recognized by revolution
« on: March 20, 2014, 08:12:19 AM »
Hello,

I've posted a question in the mozilla forum without success for the moment. I will try here.

I have the following problem, My sdcard is not recognized by the revolution whereas it's working fine an another smartphone or in my laptop.

When trying tu use gallery for example, I have a message "no storage available". In the storage settings, the Media storage option is greyed out.

What is amazing is the following. With no sdcard (according to the phone), I plug the phone on my laptop, activate the usb share, the memory card is available, I can copy, read, etc. I unplugged it properly by the remove function of the OS and disconnect the cable.

I come back to gallery or music, I have a message that sdcard is busy. Very strange because it means that the OS see the sd card.

If someone have an idea.

What I've already done :
doing a soft reset
wipe /data
reformat SD

Thanks,

Christian.

2 questions:

what size is the SD card (Firefox OS supports up to 32GB)?
What mode are you choosing: FAT32 or NTFS (I believe Mozilla only supports FAT32, hence limit of FAT32)?

That your operating system can access the SD card is not strange as the Phone acts as a SD Card Reader. This is a good thing as it suggests it's not an issue with your phone.

The SD card is a 16 Gb and it's working fine on another smartphone. It has been formated with FAT32. I 'm going to try with a new SD card of another manufacturer to check.

According to the support, some unidentified SD cards are not correctly recognized by FOS and they asked me to switch back to Android to test. This is not simple, I'll have to use Android SDK and adb commands :-[

I'm a bit disapointed because of course without SD, the phone is unusable.... I know FOS is at a begining but for the moment there are to much bugs for a daily use.

Hi,

I have the same problem. SD Card was working on Peak, but is not working on Revolution.
Didn't format between changing SD Card, just unplugged from Peak and inserted into Revolution...

Peak is under FFOS 1.2 whereas Revolution under FFOS 1.3.

Strange... I contacted the support and I'm wainting for an answer.

Hi,

I managed to solve the problem with my card by resetting the phone a couple of times. Haven't done anything else extraordinary, except switching language to English US at initial config (Tried Catalan/Spanish before). For the moment the SD is visible.

Problem again.

After rebooting the phone I haven't got access to SD anymore and even if I can call and receive SMS, the phone says no SIM is inserted.

Maybe those bugs are related. Has anyone managed to solve the SD problem?

Best,

Found the solution!

If SD is not recognized under Revolution (All FirefoxOS 1.3 ? or only this phone ?)

- try to access gallery
- when media storage is shown, disable "USB Storage" and "Share using USB"
- reboot

if reboot does not work then do the same but poweroff and on instead of rebooting.

Best,

Already try this. It was working sometimes but after a moment the SD disappeared.
I gave up for the moment hoping 1.4 will correct this bugs because I have the problem with 2 différents SDcard which working fine with Android.

Ok, I have found another thing. If you have apps installed that launch at boot and stay resident, as Connecta2, Jongla IM or Loqui, you munst first uninstall them. Then reboot and wait 3 or 4 minutes after reboot. It looks like if those app took control over the SD and don't let the "system" access to it.

Can you try this? It has worked for me after the 2 FFOS upgrades under Revolution

Best

Hello, I think you should make sure if your phone supports the storage size of your SD card. If it supports, then clarify which mode you have chosed: FAT32 or NTFS. You can also read some article about how to deal with SD card cannot be mounted.
