I find that it's very difficult to follow Mozilla sometimes and this time again.
But for now, there is no official statement because apparently Techcrunch seems to do some FUD on Firefox OS as it seems to be unclear what Mozilla is really dropping (selling smartphone through carriers or developping Firefox OS).

For sure, it doesn't help people to go with this OS :(
By now, I'm waiting for an official statement because it's messy on the web.

unlike Android is not provided "img", that you can use to try firefoxOS on certain types of smatphone that can be ARM x86, or maybe for smartphones no longer used, the same applies to create a version of the OS for their smartphones is not a walk.
If there are more detailed guidelines for doing this also for untenti I would call it"frendly user" , perhaps it would encourage the use of this OS.
Then there is no real support for example, WhatsApp would work with liquiIM or OpenWapp, this app has had a period that did not work, today in the simulator can send messages but not receive them, this no attention to users discourages the same for other systems Op. More consolidated .
I got to see that replaced the IDE of Firefox version 3 with the 2.6, perhaps intended by Mozilla's software, improving it will have more chance of being attractive to the market just as well, but not having any device direct support as he might have done the same like  Google Nexus series remove palatability and care for them in my opinion.

Many people would like to see FirefoxOS 2.2 on GP Revolution, but sadly GP won't deliver it, so it's up to US to update FirefoxOS. Do you have programming knowledge and would like to help us? Check this thread or PM me!

I am totally agree with you Jambolo, the communication from Mozilla about the development of Firefox OS was awful and they need a Nexus-like smartphone to motivate developers and users with a support on at least one device.

Pedromd, I am not sure we can help you... this is exactly the problem we have, the impossibility to sign the boot.img.

Hello everybody  :)

I also posted the following in a different thread. I just want to let you know, that I am not interested in going on Firefox OS port on Geeksphone Revolution. In my opinion Sailfish OS is the best choice for that hardware and it is actively developed by a good community and a good company.

I want to let you know, that I have found a forum on the internet, where somebody was able to port Sailfish OS 2.0.0.10 to ZTE Open C  8)

http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375953-devrom231-sailfish-os-for-zte-open-c-kis-3/

At the moment I'm trying to do it this by myself (on my ZTE Open C), but I'm facing some problems during the flash process. The problem is the internal space is not enough for that Sailfish OS port, so I have to find another way... But that's offtopic  :D

Before I'm starting on the Sailfish OS port for Geeksphone Revolution, I want to see how the system works. In fact, I never had a jolla phone in my hands and I want to check out the system before I start something new.

To those that are still interested in going on, let me know. If we ever will have a running port of Sailfish OS on Geeksphone Revolution, we will need a lot of helping hands.

Of course, I also will contact all the users from the last IRC meeting, if I have some further news and something to show you  :)

By the way, is there a way to get a new battery for our Revolution? Are the Blackphone 1 batteries compatible? The phone looks the same as the Geeksphone Revolution

https://threatpost.com/files/2014/09/blackphone.jpg

Greetings,
Bada  :)

ZTE Open C (FFOS 2.2)
Samsung Wave II

Havin' problems with connecting your GP Revolution with ADB or want to add some features or some improvements? Try my little scripting project "FIREFOXER" and tell me your opinion :-)

My opinion is that instead are convinced I want to go ahead with this FxOS operating system, despite conflicting reports by Mozilla, because is simple and good for this device.
I found this link that might be useful for porting languages

help signing boot.img help me https://www.dropbox.com/s/m4ty1sr9ucnim2s/boot.img?dl=0

ask @intel

Is that true that we cannot build newer versions of OSes because there is a crypto key that lock it?
can someone confirms this ?

and So that would mean that now Geeksphone guys are gone making (x)toys, we are left with the last "official builds", so basically dead end ?

If that's true, something must be said and done about it...

we bought that phone for the choice/freedom, and they lock us?
that's enraging ! that was not the deal...

and they still sell it on the website without saying that development/support has stopped !

Is Olm-3's post the last word on this matter and has everyone given up or has the discussion about future ports to the Revolution shifted anywhere else? I phased out my Revolution as a productive device a while ago but it's still dear to me and I'll by glad to help by testing any ports out there.

Hello guys.
Great initiative you started here ! :)
Unfortunately I'm not a dev, so I can't help on code, but I sure am able to test everything you code :)
I can even help to translate text in French if needed.
Let's not stay locked in our choice of OS because of geeksphone ! :D
