[solved] Zero won't boot at all
« on: October 21, 2011, 10:21:34 AM »
Hi,

I tried to install a new ROM. During the installation, the phone suddenly shut down.

Now there's no way to turn it on.

No boot message, no logo, only black screen.

Need some help.

You can probably revive your phone by flashing a rom in fastboot-mode.

Start your phone while pressing volume-up, then it enters fastboot-mode (you'll not see anything on the screen).

Download a rom in .img-format to your computer.  The stock roms are available in this format.  Then use fastboot on your computer to flash.

Details are available in other threads -- please shout if you cannot find them.

Hi
Thanks for your answer,

I'm trying to get it back to life following this guide.

Everything is fine until I run this command:
Code: [Select]
$ fastboot flash boot /home/sam/data/GP_zero/Original_ROM/AP-20110314/boot.img
sending 'boot' (3294 KB)...

This command is running forever and won't finish.
I try to quit with Ctrl+C but nothing happens.

After a few minutes, dmesg gives me this:
Code: [Select]
[ 9720.292054] INFO: task fastboot:3757 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[ 9720.292058] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

Note that OS is Ubuntu 10.04 with Linux 2.6.32.

Thanks for your help. I'm actually using my old Nokia as replacement and it's very frustrating.

One thing to check is that you use a high quality USB cable (e.g. the one that came with the phone).

If you use a desktop computer, then it is a good idea to use a USB connection on the back of the computer.  Sometimes the connections on the front are low quality.

You were right!

Plugging the USB connector into the back of the computer made it work with no problem!

God I love you!
