Installing apps without Google Play Store
« on: June 02, 2014, 11:59:49 PM »
Hi

I'm battling a bit finding working APKs for some apps.
Any advice/suggestions? Are there sites that are very reliable that anyone can recommend? Or is there a different way I'm not aware of yet?

After some time I even tried installing the Google Play Store, thinking I would remove it once I've installed the apps I'm battling to get installed (but that didn't want to run once installed so I removed it).

Currently I'm looking for a basic (ad free) note app, Waze navigation (found it, installed it, but when it wants to load the map it just closes) and if possible YouTube.

Thanks

I second Fdroid app - it's all open-source, yet can be extended with other repository, manually. It is "the" app for discovering and installing the latest apps, I'm surprised it's not installed by default.

It's not very recommended to download the apks from random sites as those can go out-of-date, and might be spyware/malware.

Helpful thread. I installed F-Droid repo today  and OSMtrack GPS track recorder. This is a good wotk around for the time being. I still don't know why stuff from Play Store stopped working though...
