Thanks in advance,

Peak low battery very fast internet to consult, write menajes etc.
In 10 minutes you can lose 30 % - 50 %.

With the new battery? Consumption problems disappear, or at least are less?

I'll have to buy a new battery.

Hi.
The old battery went broken ( surface is bigger and not flat ) and it risks to fire o explode....

but, with the new battery I can say happily that

NO MORE drain, NO MORE reboot, NO MORE fast consuming.

It works fine.

Ok, then we can start a battery quality issue discussion... :-)

I wanted to order a new battery from geeksphone but they are out of stock. However, customer care pointed me to a  battery for the Haier W820 phone which they said is compatible. I received one today and have to say that while it fits perfectly, it does not work. On battery the phone does not boot at all, and on DC its reboots all the time. I measured the voltages between the pins and they are different from the original battery (the highest voltage is at the third pin not the fourth one as for the original battery). So unless the the item I got is faulty, this type of battery does not seem to be a real replacement. Too bad.

I want to confirm with my own experience that the Haier W820 battery, purchased from DHGate, according to Geeksphone's recommendation, did not work for me in the Peak.  The battery has the same specs and looks almost identical, except for slightly more narrow contacts.  However, I think it's making contact all the same. So perhaps bstecklu is right - I'm not able to measure the voltage to the pins.

hosh, bstecklu,
did you find any solution to replace your battery?

My Peak battery is also getting very weak : after a few minutes browsing the Internet, the phone reboots and then reports low battery.

I asked the customer support of Geeksphone about how to buy a new battery. I was very disappointed by their answer :
  • they do not have any more batteries in stock
  • their technical support might have some. They invite me to send the whole phone to them (certainly at my charge)
  • they mention the Haier W820 battery, but also the fact that some of them are incompatible. They can not advise any reseller/website that would provide some compatible ones for sure.

Combined with the fact that the images are not updated since April 8 http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=6470.0 (they say they are still working on fixing that), it really looks like planned obsolescence to me!

So what should we do?
I don't want to buy a new phone. My Peak is working pretty fine, except for this battery issue.

I am exactly in the same situation.
GP also told me the same
I was building new images for Geeksphone Peak, but I'm now thinking that's a a stupid work as all Peak phones are dying because of the batteries and there are no replacements!!!

My plans are certainly to buy another phone. And it won't be a geeksphone's one for sure.

I would like to get another FirefoxOS phone and best option would be Mozilla Flame, but there are out of stock since months...

My Peak had also a dead battery, so I purchased a Haier battery a few months ago.
I thought I would have the same experience than the former battery but it did not.
The battery never charge to 100%, only 99% and it last really less time.

I used to flash my Peak with the daily builds Geeksphone, which enabled the backup of the data.
But since, the last 2.2 build is not very stable, my purchase was useless and I'm thinking about to try another phone.
