I'll try a new build. Even when using IP or GSM for location the result should be within a few 100 meters (in my area). Using B2G 1.1 the GPS works but it takes a few minutes beforce my location is found, so it looks like the hardware is not broken.

Using Build 20141119072724 my GPS works again, I tried it with "Nokia Maps" and "mehr Tanken". And the App "mehr Tanken" doesn't crash the system anymore.

Build 20141119072724 has a problem with the display orientation. Sometimes the browser and other apps won't change orientation or resize.

The problem with display orientation isn't there after a fresh start, but after some minutes/hours the screen is stuck to vertical. I have this problem with all recent 2.0 builds up to 23/11. Furthermore the FOTA update from 22/11 to 23/11 messed up and reboots while unpacking (tried it 3 times).

Is there any stable release after 1.3? Mozilla pushed 1.4 since 8 august http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_OS#Release_history

For the Peak the latest stable image is still v1.1.

At Mozilla the release of a new version does not mean it is stable for every phone. Like Android, the manufacturer of the phone has to do compatibility and stability testing. Most of the manufacturers avoid this because it costs time and money - especially regarding cheap phones. So, while 1.4 and 2.0 are ready for adaption by the manufacturers, nobody has done it yet.

Geeksphone provides daily updates because Peak and Keon are developer devices. The images provided are sometimes okay and sometimes useless because nobody checks them for compatibility and stability.

Regards,

Michael

I'm using Firefox OS 1.3, it's relatively stable. I would use 1.4, how is it today?

1.4 isn't a big step forward. Last time I tried it the stability was quite good, like 1.3 I'd say.
But 2.0 is the way to go - if the builds weren't messed up for the last few days.

The various sites I consulted announce conflicting dates. When is it supposed to be released at Mozilla?

Like I said before:

Mozilla just completes the code and the features, then the manufacturers have to get the OS stable on their devices. Last time Geeksphone has done this was 1.1. So: While even 2.1 is completed nothing past 1.1 runs really stable on our phones.

Michael

Do you think it's going to change? Do you think a newer version could be released by Geeksphone?

All year long a stable 1.3 was promised but not delivered. If they're still working on it, they should head for 2.0. But I won't bet on it: Geeksphone has limited resources and to keep the company running they need to concentrate on new products.

I must say, I'm deeply disappointed by Geeksphone.
The Peak is a really nice phone and FFOS seems like a great system to me, but they just don't put any work in supporting their older devices, and so the Peak stays far from what it could be with better support.
No stable version since 1.1, for more than a year, this is a shame. Bringing out the revolution and neglecting the previous devices doesn't seem like a sustainable strategy to me.

I successfully did a manual install of 2.0.

I'd forgotten that there are instructions here in the forums for that, at:
http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=5207.0

So I read through all the information that Mozilla has on this and did a couple of extra steps that do not appear in the forum instructions.  On the other hand, I was successful this time (unlike my previous attempt in November 2014).

The installation is actually not such a big deal, once you know how to do it.  But I did not want to risk using a version higher than 2.0

2.0 offers a cleaner experience than 1.1.  Everything seems to work well, except for GPS (it may be a provider issue).  I haven't tried video.  Google calendar sync is working now. I took the advice from the forums and changed updates to once a month.
