General Discussion / Re: Geeksphone Zero: the first Ubuntu phone ?
« on: January 04, 2013, 02:27:32 PM »
I would love testing it as well but the Zero is definitely not powerful enough. This is at least according to the specifications.
I read somewhere the first phone (and code ?) will be available not before 2014. So if there is another Geeksphone released, maybe but not yet.

Bugs / Re: Battery charging only when turned off and USB problems

Haha, funny solution.
It seems it was an hardware problem but not with the phone, with the USB cable. Today I used another cable, it works.
So I don't know exactly why the other cable works only when the phone is turned off but I've got a solution...

Bugs / Battery charging only when turned off and USB problems
« on: August 03, 2012, 12:03:50 AM »

I recently noticed that my Zero won't charge when plugged in using the USB cable, worse: the battery level indicates it's charging and will show me some crazy info (charge +20% in 10min). If I turn it off and charge it, it works, the approximate level shown (the 3 color level red, orange, green) seems to be correct.

Also, when I plug the USB cable, it does not appear as a device anymore. I have no notification on the phone to be able to mount it to access the content of the SD card, adb does not detect it. Even with the Linux command "lusb", I don't see it. Adb over network still works.

I use the community ROM 3 for a few months (since its release +/-) but have this problem for a few days only.

Any idea what could have caused it ? Software or hardware ?

Thank you

Roms / Re: ICS Beta ROM for the Zero

Thank you for the answer. The topic I talk about was this one (Spanish, Google Translate is helpful).

So what they say is that, yes you could get ICS on the Zero but it may have worse performances and anyway not all the functionalities of ICS. Will see but I wait for a more stable version (and have a backup phone maybe  ;) ) before testing.

I heard we couldn't get ICS on the zero because 500MB of RAM was required. How did you succeed to do that ?
On my zero with community rom (Android 2.3) it is already laggy sometimes so I don't want it to be worse with ICS.

I don't know if MeeGo is the best choice, the project has been stopped.
There is Tizen which is supposed to be the successor of MeeGo. Mer also is based on MeeGo and is maybe more open than Tizen but less developed.
Other project to keep an eye onto : Boot-to-Gecko from Mozilla which has been build for the Galaxy S2.
For all these projects I have no idea about the feasibility of such port...

I'm also a gnu/linux user (archlinux) and I asked also about the same questions.
True open source phone (May 2011) -> not open hardware
I also searched to have MeeGo on the Zero (April 2011) but it seems it was not hardly possible.

On the other hand, the fact that the kernel is open source, allows to port another OS if you are ready to put enough work into it and have a deep look in the drivers code.

Roms / Re: CM 7.2-RC-1...
« on: April 03, 2012, 03:47:07 PM »
I don't really understand your question. The GP Zero and One are both supported by the CyanogenMod team so if CM 7.2R1 is released, it means it is released for the geeksphone.

Discussion générale / Re: Geeks phone super lent

Roms / Re: ZerO Community ROM 2.2
« on: March 12, 2012, 01:07:32 PM »
Maybe that was the problem. I had first an installation problem (corrupted zip) and had to redownload it, I may have forgot to rewipe the memory at the second try...

I also use titanium backup but I don't think it is the problem as I had no problem to go CM7.1 -> Community ROM 1.05

Once I have less work, I'll try to translate the post to the french section  :)

I have many problem with this rom : many reboot, slower, my battery is uncharging faster than on the previous version (1.05). Am I the only one ?

It works thank you !

I haven't update the rom yet, so I post here.
I don't see the SIM toolkit app anymore in the app list. Where can I install it ? I haven't found it in the market. I'm not sure it depends of the rom or the sim, I just change my sim and don't know how to change the pin code...

Roms / Re: Stock Rom 2.3 "Duke" update 1
« on: February 26, 2012, 01:13:52 AM »
This rom is official in the same way that isaac was official, but as to features, it has a lot more in common with the community rom.
Thank you
And how is it compared to the community rom in term of stability and features ? Why should choose I one over the other ?

Great to see the geeksphone rom is still maintained. So if I understand well, it is an update of the basic stock rom, the evolution of isaac, right ? Or is it the community rom ?

I have currently CM7.1 but I get many reboot for no reason lately. I will try with this one.
