And how to switch back to Android again
« on: February 19, 2014, 08:23:00 AM »
Just installed FFOS, but: it doesn't recognize my SIM (which did work under Android).

So: anyone know how to install Android again?

First of all, we would like to thank your e-mail, as well as your Geeksphone Revolution purchase. Regarding your issue, our device is still being reviewed by our developers, we would like to clarify that your devices have been sent before its release date, due to this, some issues could be still presented, as the devices are still being tested to solve all issues detected. Furthermore, an user guide is being currently prepared. To solve your issue, just follow the steps below:

Download the Android update.zip file: http://gpdroid.s3.amazonaws.com/revolution/revolution-4.2.2-1390837446.zip
Run Recovery mode (Power + Vol-, and select recovery)
Mark Update using adb

As soon as the option is selected, run on your computer the file already downloaded:

adb sideload <name of>.zip

Just wait for the installation to finish, and Android will be restored in your device.

HOLA!

I'm trying to switch back to Android and getting trouble.

My Windows 7 x64 (64 bit) and my Windows 7 ultimate x86 (32bit) are having problems installing
the right Android driver. In Hardware Manager the device is always marked with Error.
Uninstallinge and retrying does not seem to work.

I tried to install the google Android SDK.

Which driver should be installed to get MTP-Driver and ADB-Driver correct installed?
I'm not shure which package should be installed to get a ADB SIDELOAD working.
Tried to read several instructions in different forums, but didn't get it working.

Any hints?

Switching to FFOS was easy.
But switching back is a horror at the moment because of driver (mtp and adb)

Regards from Germany,
Peter

ok, some problems solved.

Open:
Driver for Revolution and Windows 7 x64 for adb update.
The command: adb devices
does not recognize any devices.
The windows device manager marks the Revolution yellow. No Driver found.
Uninstall/retry does not work.
Universal ADB Driver does not work either.
Alway tried as administrator.
Any hints?

ok. solved.

Hints:
If the revolution is not recognized as a device. btw no driver is installed,
please manually sign the google adb-driver to the device.
Reboot the revolution to fastboot, select update using adb.
connect to pc.
windows searching for drivers -> not found.
In Device manager, android device is marked yellow.
-> right-click,
update driver
choose manually on pc.
Choose driver from list.
Google Inc -> ADB Driver.

Then "adb devices" in the command window should show a Clovertrail device.
-> Then update the Revolution als described above.

I think, I will stay at Android the next weeks.

Hello,
I need some help. I want to go back to Android.

But the Revolution was not detected in ADB-Sideload-Modus at the ADB-CMD.
I try it on 3 PC´s with Win7 64bit, without Driver, with new drivers from Intel and from Google.

I try it with and without Energy-Save on the Phone, with activated USB-Debugging and without, with another Cable, with Battery and without.

Nothing works. The ADB-Comand starts, but there is not Device detected.

Has someone some Idea?

Did you activate the recovery mode?
You have to do this, at least with my revolution, without USB connection.
I have to disconnect it, (re)start the phone in recovery mode and then reconnect it.
Then it was detected. (But I use Debian, so it might be a little different)

Download the Android update.zip file: http://gpdroid.s3.amazonaws.com/revolution/revolution-4.2.2-1390837446.zip

Is there a URL that links to these images? In case of updates, it'd be nice to be able to get the very latest. Similarly for the other OS's that may be made available.

Is your phone in the device manager marked yellow or is it shown as running?
If marked yellow, follow my instructions above.

An error shows as "Verifying update package.... Installation aborted."
Seems that it's something wrong about that file.
What's its sha1sum or md5sum?
