RCMod 4 [current: 4.0.0]
« on: December 17, 2010, 09:04:03 PM »
Note: If you're unfamiliarized with the RCMod ROMs, please read these threads: http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=675.0, http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=744.0, http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php/topic,785.0.html and http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php/topic,961.0.html

RCMod 4.0 is available, with a Gingerbread flavor

RCMod 4.0 is, like before, an upgrade (no data wipe required): you can upgrade from the previous major series (RCmod 3) without any data loss. For other ROMs (stock, RCMod 1, or others) you'll either have to Wipe your phone (from recovery), or upgrade through them all (any stock -> any RCMod 1 -> any RCMod 2 -> RCMod 3 -> RCMod 4). In any case,  please do a nand backup before you attempt to upgrade!

Note:
Installation of RCMod 4 requires you use either my recovery at version 1.6 (or above), or ClockWorkMod.

Features

RCMod 4.x is built from the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) version 2.3 (codenamed Gingerbread), with the necessary changes to work on the ONE's hardware and some minor optimizations (the current base version for RCMod 4 is AOSP 2.3.1). You can find some highlights on that version here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3-highlights.html

If you're upgrading from an older RCMod series (1, 2, or 3), and if you have the Google Apps installed you'll have to install them again after applying the update. You'll need the Gingerbread version of the Apps, I suggest you use the "universal gapps" from CyanogenMod 7.

NOTE: On RCMod4, native wifi Hotspot tethering is now available, so the Wifi Tether app has been removed.

If you're upgrading from RCMod 3 you do NOT need to reinstall anything after an upgrade.
Have fun!

Superb work Ricardo

I'm pretty amazed with you, what you usually have for breakfast? Because your performance is not normal  ;D

Just kidding, but really, impressive work, and frankly, all of us Geekphoners are in debt with you for things like this  :)

Is it possible to use Clockworkmod recovery to install it?

And now I wonder... Is it possible to make nand backups from your recovery compatible with Clockworkmod backups (and vice-versa)? May be just moving the directories?

Yes, and yes.

+1

Got maps and youtube working without google account :P. Also superuser which, by the way, its telling me that there's a newer version of the su executable :P. And don't try to install froyo package xDD.

If you install froyo package and delete SetupWizard.apk seems to work partially. Maps and latitude run ok. I ca't sync contacts or calendar events but I can see my emails.
