@WerN1211

Right, didn't see the "adb reboot bootloader"...

Anyway I always enter fastboot mode the hard way:

1- remove battery for a few seconds and put it back in;
2- press Volume Up  for a second;
3- with volume up still pressed, press On/Off button for about 4 seconds;
4- release button On/Off, and then release Volume Up.

If it all went well, you should be in fastboot mode.

I have a much bigger issue to solve now.

I explain:
I was looking for a solution to various annoying issues when Javier suggested to go to SuperAosp ROM.
I googled SuperAosp and found a Geeksphone forum page with a tutorial.
I decided to go for it !

I now realize that I downloaded and installed a Geeksphone ONE rom on my Zero.

Now USB does not work, the phone does not switch ON, fastboot does not seem to work (I read the tutorial in full this time).

Pretty stuck here.  Any advice ?

OK

I just found out sending command  "lsusb"  that my Zero is now recognized as "Google Inc".
I edited /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules and changed the vendor values to 18d1 and d00d.
I now have access to the whole thing.

Obviously fastboot combination had worked, though I could not notice.

@WerN1211

Yeah... Fastboot mode can be tricky because the screen stays black.
The only way I know it worked is really using lsusb or using dmesg.

Anyway, it's great you have worked it out!

Waow thank you so much, I've been able to bring back to live my phone !

Regards to the Linux community (impossible to do it on Windows...)

Bye

NB : maybe can you update the tutorial : one must enter the partition name so it is fastboot flash boot boot.img and so on

Something is going wrong when I connect my phone to the USB socket. No matter what the phone is doing (nothing, fastboot-via-volume-button, or 'normal' boot to the Cyanogen boot loop), I get output like this in dmesg:

[ 1239.544037] usb 2-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 13
[ 1254.656038] usb 2-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 1269.872034] usb 2-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110

EDIT: trimmed this output, you get the idea...

and neither adb nor fastboot show the device in the list. Any ideas?

EDIT: I solved it. Leaving this here in case anybody has the same problem. The solution that worked for me was to remove my PC's power cable then reconnect, as discussed here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?s=a7f4128a79c3f7c18067f16e66f176df&p=10054218#post10054218

I updated to SuperOSR which seemed to go okay but it then rebooted and the phone is now stuck in the reboot loop. I have tried following the instructions to put it into recovery mode:

1- remove battery for a few seconds and put it back in;
2- press Volume Up  for a second;
3- with volume up still pressed, press On/Off button for about 4 seconds;
4- release button On/Off, and then release Volume Up.

However, when I reconnect it always just tries to reboot normally. "fastboot devices" doesn't list anything and it always. /var/log/messages shows:

Oct 22 16:58:58 rebecca-desktop kernel: [  671.130028] usb 1-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8

Oct 22 16:59:03 rebecca-desktop kernel: [  676.290311] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] Attached SCSI removable disk

Any ideas?

Stephen.

Count Mississipies  ;D

I mean...

1- remove battery for a few seconds and put it back in;
2- press Volume Up and say : One Mississipi
3- with volume up still pressed, press On/Off button and say: One mississipi. Two mississipi. Three mississipi. Four mississipi.
4- release button On/Off, and then release Volume Up.

If you don't believe me, use the search tool (third link in this page, between "help" and "edit profile", and look for mississipi

I managed to recover. I think the problem was that the battery was flat. So using the volume up/power key method wasn't actually doing anything. Eventually, I did this at exactly the same time as plugging in the USB cable. (Thanks, for the mississippi tip). I then executed:

platform-tools/fastboot devices
platform-tools/fastboot -w
platform-tools/fastboot flash boot AP-20110314/boot.img
platform-tools/fastboot flash recovery AP-20110314/recovery.img
platform-tools/fastboot flash system AP-20110314/system.img
platform-tools/fastboot reboot

My /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules contained:

SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="d00d", MODE="0666"

I wanted to say a big thanks to everyone contributing on this thread.

It just saved me from an ugly rebooting loop using CM7.2 RC1.

Hey folks!

Since megaupload is down, can I get platform-tools.zip elsewhere?
